Frank O. Gehry life before architect

Frank O. Gehry is the design principle for the firm of Frank O. Gehry and associates inc.which he established in 1962. Raised in Toronto ,Canada he moved his family to Los Angeles in 1947, Young Frank often spent the night at his grandparent's house. They had emigrated to Canada from Poland, and although they slowly adopted the ways of their new country, they observed their Jewish traditions. On Thursdays, Frank went to the market with his grandmother. Each week she bought a live carp to be made into gefilte fish for Sabbath supper. They carried it home in a heavy white paper bag filled with water. Timmins, Frank ran into his first experience with anti-Semitism. A group of bullies tormented him at school, beating him up and calling him Fish, an insult suggesting that he smelled. it was humiliating to be punched and taunted because he was Jewish. During this painful time he pulled back from his family's religious beliefs.Many artists use autobiographical images to work through their conflicts. For Gehry, the shape of a fish repeated over and over in his designs represents his mixed feelings. On one hand, the fish echoes the anti-Semitic slurs of his childhood. On the other, it symbolizes the comforting religious rituals observed by his grandmother. The giant fish sculptures elevate memory into art

my architect

My architect is about Louis Kahn's life after he became rich and famous. After he had died they started looking around for his family. Everyone had known about each other except for his son that had went M.I.A for a while. The son had gone around talking to his fathers side of the family and friends. He found out about his family and his father Louis Khans architecture.

United Nations Headquarters

The United Nations Headquarters is a building in New York City that has served as the headquarters of the United Nations since its completion in 1950. It is located in the Turtle Bay neighborhood, on the east side of Midtown Manhattan, overlooking the East River. Though it is in New York City, the land occupied by the United Nations Headquarters is considered international territory and its borders are First Avenue on west, East 42nd Street on south side , East 48th Street north and the East River. The FDR Drive passes underneath the Conference Building.

chrysler building

The Chrysler building was made by William Van Alin on september 19, 1928 and located on 42 and lexington. The building was built with 77 floors. It brngs many tourist a day.

ezra stoller

EZRA STOLLER was a photographer who was Born in Chicago on May 16, 1915, Stoller earned a bachelors degree in 1938 from the Schoo lof Allied Arts at New York University. He taught photography at the Army Signal Corps Photo Center in New York City. Two decades later, Stoller founded Esto Photographics, the agency that has become one of the profession’s best known and most respected houses of photography.Ezra Stoller received the AIA Gold Medal for Photography in 1961. he was this award’s first winner. He photographed famous landmarks around New York City.

Flat iron building

The Flat Iron building was built in 1906 by h.g.wells and is 285 feet high with 22 floors and is located on 26th street and 5th ave. The flat iron building is triangle (looks like cheese cake). I'm amazed how someone could come up with a design like that.

metropolitan life insurance tower

The tower was built by Napolean Lebrun and his sons. The building is 700 feet tall and has 50 floors. The building was made first with steel but was changed to marble and limestone. The building is rectangular, tall, and wide.
